Flute and Piano lessons, Hordle Lymington

A Holistic Approach to Music Teaching

With a background as a professional orchestral flautist and many years teaching flute, piano, and music theory in leading independent schools in London and Surrey, I now bring my experience and passion to students for flute and piano lessons in Hordle, Lymington, Hampshire.

My teaching goes beyond notes on a page—it's about building focus, confidence, and creativity, one student at a time.

Every child and adult learns differently. I work with each student in a way that suits their individual learning style, helping them grow not only as musicians but as people. Whether your child is preparing for ABRSM or Trinity exams, working toward GCSE or A-level performance, or simply wants to enjoy learning music at their own pace, I offer lessons that are structured, supportive, and flexible.

Many children today face challenges with concentration, confidence, or emotional expression. Music is a powerful tool that engages both the creative and analytical parts of the brain—making it especially valuable for children who need a space to focus, calm their minds, and build resilience. Over time, I’ve seen students transform through music, discovering strengths they didn’t know they had.

I bring a holistic perspective to my teaching, drawing on training in music therapy, sound therapy, EFT, and hypnotherapy. For those who would benefit, and always with parental agreement, I can integrate therapeutic elements into lessons—helping students express emotions, develop self-awareness, and find a sense of balance through music.

With adult learners, this support may take a more intuitive form—working with emotional blocks, self-expression, or using music as a space for reflection and personal growth.

My goal is to nurture the whole person through music—helping each student thrive, both musically and personally. If you're looking for lessons that meet you where you are and help you go further, I’d love to hear from you.

I started piano lessons with Petro at 64. She’s been patient, encouraging, and deeply knowledgeable in both music and theory. Lessons are always fun, and I reached Grade 1 in under a year. Petro tailored lessons to include music I enjoy and brings a unique blend of professionalism, empathy, and music therapy. I wholeheartedly recommend her as a teacher.
